Majid Moshirfar, MD, FACSCornea & Refractive Surgeon

About Dr. Moshirfar

Four decades in service of sight

A board-certified, fellowship-trained cornea specialist whose career bridges world-class surgery, pioneering research, and the training of the next generation of eye surgeons.

Dr. Majid Moshirfar earned his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honorary recognition. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, where he received the Best Resident Award in his final year, followed by a two-year fellowship in cornea, external disease, refractive surgery, and anterior segment reconstruction.

He went on to serve for 18 years on the faculty of the University of Utah’s John A. Moran Eye Center — 16 of them as Director of Cornea and Refractive Surgery. There he established a cornea fellowship that has become one of the most sought-after programs in the country, training dozens of surgeons who now practice worldwide. Before joining Hoopes Vision, he spent a year as a Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco.

Today, Dr. Moshirfar is the Clinical Director of Hoopes, Durrie, Rivera Research and Program Director of the Utah Cornea Fellowship at Hoopes Vision in Draper, Utah. He is regarded as a referral surgeon for the region’s most complex corneal cases, and his research continues to influence how vision correction is practiced around the world.
